I went to dentist today. He put a temp filling on the tooth. He wants me to go back next week so he can put a permanent filling in. Should I do that? Or should i just keep the temp?

As long as he doesn't kill the nerve or put some type of Amalgam (mercury) filling in your tooth you should be fine. The goal is to not kill the tooth if possible and put some type of safe material to patch it up.
Tooth infections can be deadly. Especially if it spreads.
If you have a status quo dentist that tells you that Amalgams are harmless go else where.
