According to Gatto, the origins of schooling as we all know it, were in Prussia, also.

So it's Hindu + Prussian, I guess. I don't care what the origins are; it's goofy, inserting a bunch of children all the same age in a room into their stupid little desks and tables, with The Authority at the front of the room feeding facts (or maybe antifacts) into their little heads and cranking the handle.
