Yes, brewers yeast is S. Cerevisiae, but ... brewers yeast has also been run through a beer making process at least a dozen times. Once it looses its effectiveness for helping to make beer they drain the tank,, scrape it out and dry it and then sell it to you at an inflated price. Nutritional yeast (purchased in the health food stores also) is unadulterated S. Cerevisiae. You may or may not react to the S. Cerevisiae if it has not been soaking in beer. It would be best to leave alone for at least 6 months before testing by consuming.
