Re: Type 1 Diabetes
while at the louisburg kansas cider festival last weekend i met an intersting woman. among other things, she told me this tale.
a woman in her church had a son who was diagnosed with type 1. the woman told the doctor, "oh, we dont have that in kenya. i will take care of it." the doctor turned her in to the state. the state threatened to take the child if medical care wasnt provided.
the church group supported the woman. she said all she needed was three weeks to straighten it out and turn him around. two weeks later, the state demanded the boy be tested again. his blood sugar was fine.
the state dropped their case. the doctor said that it must have been a misdiagnosis. heaven forbid that anyone would think that turning the woman in was wrong or that type 1 dibetes could be reversed with diet.
the most encouraging thing about all of it was that the chruch group supported the woman instead of the doctor and the state. things might just be turning around out there.
