Why is it that someone who knows squat about medicine or science thinks he is smarter than everyone out there that really know about medicine and science? Iron is iron when it comes to hemochromatosis. I don't care if it is from a steak or from black strap molasses. To say it is OK for people with hemochromatosis goes well beyond ignorance and well in to the absolute stupidity realm!!! This kind of bad advice can kill people!!!!

Certain foods should be avoided during hemochromatosis treatments. Both alcohol and vitamin C increase intestinal iron absorption and are best avoided. Other iron rich foods that raise serum ferritin levels include:
- 100% iron breakfast cereals
- blackstrap molasses
- food cooked in cast iron cookware
- iron fortified foods
- iron supplements
- raw seafood
- vitamin supplements.
