Re: Has anyone had tingling numbness completely go away?

My arms fall asleep everynight when I sleep, and wake up sore and painful. But during the day, it only happens if I stay in one place too long.
When mirena was in, I would have a limb go numb and stay that way for days. But I was still able to function and move it.
As I understand it, with MS, you would have something go numb and in many cases be unable to walk, or use the arm, or move the face that was in question. At least that is what the neuros tried to convince me. Yes, I was tested for MS. My grandmother actually has MS and she says when she first got sick she awoke one morning with numb legs and she stood up and fell on her face and went to the doc and that was when she was eventually diagnosed.
The other thing about MS, there isnt really one definitive test. They want you to have more than 1 episode to diagnose... they do a MRI (which I had done) and they look for white lesions, and then they keep watching those lesions to see if they grown or get more.. Also, they can do a spinal tap. But from my understanding, it is a diagnosis that can take some time. I actually have very small white lesions on my brain, which scared the crap out of me. But the neurologist says that very small lesions can be caused by migraines, which I do have.
Anyway, I hope that helps. I spent a lot of time researching about MS before I came to the mirena conclusion. My GP had told me December 15th that it may be MS, and then she couldnt get me into a neurologist until January 8th so I had the whole month of christmas to freak out and do research and scare myself. Of course, we dont know, maybe it still could be, but I am thinking it is more likely something else.

Hope that helps.
