Re: water
This fresh water supply problem seems to be happening all over the country. Remember last year? It was that giant reservoir that feeds Atlanta and many surrounding cities. Millions of people. They were literally about out. Then it started to rain and saved them.
I used to live in Fresno, CA. Central valley. 60% of the nations fresh produce comes from there. Heavy population growth there too. There is a huge unreplenishable reservoir beneath the whole valley. Problem is that ag chemicals seeped into it over many years. Now there are pools of PCBs floating around in it. Several times, I would here on the news of a school closing due to testing positive for those chemicals. That was 20 years ago. I don't know what's happened since.
Now, the Austin area and surrounding cities have been in a drought for a long time. It goes in spells. 2 years ago, there was such flooding that one city was nearly wiped out. This is a very fast growing area. The main lake is now 30 feet below norm. Austin has had water rationing for over a year. Other cities are nearly out of water and can't seem to buy it from any nearby cities. They will have to truck it in. Supposedly, El Nino is building in the Pacific. That should bring much more rain to us. Typical of Texas, that will be flooding rains. Everything is big in Texas.
Here is the drought monitor.
