Let us create MEDIA attention - Why and How

Hi all!

Since exfoliative cheilitis still is quite an uncommon condition, it would be a good idea for all of us to try create some kind of media attention. I know it will demand courage to do this, but think of the potential benefits for all of us. For example, a short feature on TV could lead to:

* people with EC recognizing their symptoms and diagnose
* more people with EC "coming out" in public and in media
* doctors and researchers willing to do more research
* people with EC coming together, creating a community
* the forming of national/international EC associations/foundations
* more media attention, more research etc etc...


Some suggestions on how you can do this:

* try to get interviewed in newspapers, on radio or TV

* contact medical researchers

* write an article and try to get it published in your local paper

* start a blog

* post videos on youtube

* find papers/magazines/radio and TV shows/researchers that could be interesting in our condition, and post the links on this forum for us all to see and contact

* post ideas on this forum on how to create media attention

* ask you family or friends to help you with this

* etc etc


It's hardly unlikely that anyone of us would have the energy to do all of this, but all of us could at least try and do one thing. For example - I've been in contact with one of the biggest public radio "health" shows in Sweden and they have shown interest in doing a feature with me. All it took was one short mail and and a link to my blog. There is no guarantee this will ever be realized, but there is always a small chance it will.

We're all in this together and we got to start somewhere, right?
