Re: On day 21 of my (hopefully) 40 day water fast.
i sympathize. did a 29 day fast last year and a couple shorter ones since. I now believe we have definite cycles of seven days, and larger ones of 28, (AND that 21 is the minimum for what shifts *worldly* 'habits', and can move us past the so called world) and that these cycles are very much concentrated during a water fast.
I was very good -felt well, and largely at ease- for 21 days, and then entered a spitting "crisis" ( as they call it--really not so bad, but as you can attest, very bad-tasting and trying: salty saliva and sour metallic taste in my case.
Finally I quit the fast on day 29 -more out of being tired of that taste than any authentic sense of completion - and i felt crappy for a few weeks after:
no sense of taste; no pleasure in eating: no ACTUAL return of hunger...and a slight feeeling of malaise.
so, here's the thing...
maybe it's worth it to go on...or, maybe today is the day to quit. I really can't give you any good answer.
except I strongly feeel that it's a mistake to quit during a 'down' swing. I really feel this strongly. And some of the good fasting lit would also say that you never quit during a 'downswing'.
People doing all kinds of cleanses would agree...for what that's worth.
You +could+ brush your teeth and tongue with baking soda, and/or hydrogen peroxide, when it seems to be most called for, and maybe, let a whole clove rest on your tongue--not to eat, but just to bring a more human 'scent' to the whole endeavour, if it allowed you to go on and come to a natural place of breaking fast...I mean, the small inconveniences like passing bad breath shouldn't derail you, if the journey is really 'on track' (lol... is that enough metaphors and allusions? :-)) --
Or, perhaps it's best to stop, use the tooth and tongue brushing techniques and drink the green drinks, as you say.
and be just very vigilant, and rather gentle...
well, you will have to check in with Intuition, and see what it says...
anyway,
best to you.
it's a good experience/ rather mind-expanding, yes?
In my case, that first
Water Fast (29 days) has continued to unfold its 'wisdom', month by month.
