While I can not say for sure, I do not think that this is a good idea. I have seen where others have recommended this approach.
From what I have observed, the problem is that if you zap less than 7 minutes, any surviving microbes can recover. Under microscopic observation, if you turn the zapper off when microbes are swollen and about to explode, they will shrink down to normal size and recover. They then continue reproducing and within a while, the slide becomes fully infested again.
This might also lead to a problem that is similar to the one seen with
Antibiotics , resistance / immunity. If a microbe is repetitively zapped to almost death but recovers, then it may over time become immune to zapping.
My recommendation is zap hard, suffer the die-off. After a few days, you will feel a lot better. If you do not, then perhaps something is not right with your zapping method.
