I'm freaking out!
I'm a 25 year old female. My grandmother (maternal) has some of the thinnest hair on any woman I know (and some facial hair too). My sister has very very thin hair as well, that has thinned more so with time (and a little facial hair). My brother's hair had thinned, but the thinning seems to have stopped. My mother has some of the thickest hair I've ever seen (shoulder length and she still needs 3 boxes of hair color to cover it all!). Mine has always been pretty thick as well, and I've never had a single facial hair except the normal "peach fuzz" (I've heard these two issues are sometimes related). It was also of a slightly wavy texture (like my mother's), which made it perfect for almost any style (*sob*). Now it's gotten much finer and I've noticed a definite thinning in my bangs and by my temples. I can't do anything with it anymore & it looks awful. From what I've read these areas are common to lose hair in. There are so many things that could be the culprit it seems: heredity, STRESS (I don't deal w/ it well), diet (typical American, ie-bad, but I'm improving now), past lifestyle (used to starve myself to lose weight quickly, did meth for a while, several years ago---pretty bad lifestyle I know), medications (Wellbutrin, Lamictal and birth control--I've been on all for 2+ years), or other things I've read about. So please tell me, can anyone offer any advice or insight into what might cause something like this? Does this scenario sound common? Do some thick-haired women start to thin in their 20's typically? Is it reversable? Someone please help me. I have no idea what to do. Should I wait it out to see if changing my diet will help, or should I start on Rogaine or something else while it's still not too noticeable? From other boards on here, it seems that you can cure almost anything if you take care of your body and I'm committed to doing that (albeit slowly). Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
