Re: Intense exercise may curb cancer deaths in men
I assume the same would be true for women.
I have begun to work out regularly with both cardio and weight routines and am finding that despite the soreness, I just love it. I have been studying the nutritional and herbal side of natural health for some time, but didn't think I could exercise. I was wrong. :)
I am noticing that men and women who work out and are active are just plain healthier (and more successful!) than couch potatoes. I'm finding that it's 80% diet and 20% exercising to reach your fitness goals. There are definitely guys out there pumping iron like crazy and sweating up a storm on the treadmill who are not healthy, even if they are bulked up. My observation is that they are either junking out on white bread and potato chips after their workouts, or they are overdoing the beer "just a little."
The people who are serious about trimming down or getting a chiseled physique (whatever) are VERY serious about their diet and proper supplementation (of course, everyone has his pet list of supplements). I was amazed to find out they are into colon health, healthy plant oils, organic produce and drinking pure water as their primary beverage.
462 minutes of physical activity per week translates to approximately two 45 minute workouts 5 x week. That's a lot of sweat for a 53 year old. But 27% of the guys stayed cancer free with only a 30 minute workout. That could be just a 5K morning run... or a one mile walk for us turtles.:)
So, yay! Get out there and pump it!
