Interesting Bronc Rider
Late this afternoon we were outside expanding the raccoons cage when we heard some commotion across the street. One of my daughters went across to help and came running back a few minutes later telling me I needed to get over there. A middle-aged couple had been riding by on horses when the man started yelling and acting crazy, so the women stopped the horses and had my daughter help him get down. When I got there he was lying on the ground talking to a friend named Clint. He started drawing his legs up and stiffining his arms, so I thought he was going into a seizure. Instead, he was reliving an old head injury he received while riding in a rodeo. While lying on the road - he rode the bronc, was thrown off, hit the ground, was kicked in the head and tried to get up.
My son-in-law and I kept a close watch on his pulse and skin color, but there wasn't much to do except keep him from hurting himself. The woman who was riding with him said that his family had told her that sometimes he gets bad headaches and then goes through these spells where he doesn't know where he is and he relives the injury. At one point he looked at me and told me he just needed a cold beer. I told him it sounded good, but the next second he was back in the rodeo with Clint. When we finally got him into the backseat of a car, he told me he didn't have his gear bag - I told him I'd get it and meet him down the road. That seemed to satisfy him so he got in the car.
Have to admit - this was a first.
