Re: 8 years of EC - cured with 4 weeks of Aquafor.

I bought my two tubes of Aquaphor on eBay, but you can get it elsewhere on the net (google it). Not sure where you might find it outside of the internet. Mine say "Healing Ointment from Eucerin - Advanced Healing for Dry, Cracked, Or Irritated Skin". I was really not expecting much when I first applied it because it did feel very similar to vasaline, which I had tried before with no results.

About whiteness on the lips - I did have this initially. In the morning when I showered and got my lips wet, that's when it was really visible. While it was still wet I would wipe as much off as I could with tissue, brush my teeth and then apply Aquaphor. It may not come off perfectly, and you may still see whiteness later during the day when you eat or drink, but just take it off gently and apply more Aquaphor right after. I have read where some have tried to heal their EC by leaving the skin on the lips, but most have said this does not work. I can attest to that - the skin is dead and is functioning sort of like a callous. The problem is that your body does not recognize that it is healed, and it keeps growing the callous. I would remove it when it no longer would "stick" to the rest of the skin (when it turns white, it is ready to be removed), then apply the ointment. Repeat, repeat, repeat. If you do not see results immediately don't give up.

I am STILL using the aquaphor. I'm a little afraid of stopping at this point. I want to give my lips adequate time to fully heal, and applying the ointment is not a big deal at all.

Pictures - I can probably take a few pics of my lips as they are at the moment, but I'm not sure I ever took any pics of my lips when they were in bad shape. I usually avoided pictures because of EC and when I knew I was going to be in one, I made sure they were as exfoliated as possible in advance. Tweet
