Gifts of the Earth

I have just returned from the Philippines where I went to help my grand-daughter who had been attacked by a dog. When I returned, I found that my garden had been watered, but not weeded, so in the early mornings and late afternoons I have been in the garden trying to save the vegetables from the forest of weeds. This morning as I was making my way down a row I ran into a huge patch of Sheperds Purse. Shepherds Purse is an incredible plant which is specific to uterine bleeding, so I harvested it and set it aside to preserve. So, now, my first official harvest of the season did not come from what I had planted, but simply as a gift from Mother Nature.
