I think the 'standardized extract' part of the story solves the mystery.

I bet if you had regular ashwandaga, that goes for something like 2 dollars an ounce, you wouldn't have any adverse reactions.

Find a whole food vitamin C. Ascorbic acid is not vitamin C.
