Re: Are There Risks of Re-Infection?

There is a slim risk this. I think it is called "superinfection". A + man got another strain while having unsafe sex in another country, I think it was a newswire story in 2003. The dangers are obvious...you might get a strain that is already mutated against antiretroviral drugs, or it might be a more fierce strain, etc. There are new tests being done to genotype the strains, and there is concern in the community that multiple infection is going to be a serious issue soon, if not already.
(I realize that many people on these forums don't trust testing of any kind at all. I am sort of on the fence about the actual HIV tests in use, but until someone is documented as permanently cured I am open to all forms of medicine, Eastern, Western, herbal, probiotic, imaginative...whatever)
However, I would recommend safe sex because of the rampant nasties like syphilis, herpes, and warts. If you are positive, you probably don't need to be dealing with another, probably more infectious, disease that might make your penis begin to resemble an old piece of pizza.
Think about it.
