I didn't experience Sugar cravings, as NAC normalizes insulin it should help with the Sugar cravings. I just wonder if you bought N-acetyl-cysteine or N-acetyl-L-cysteine, the latter apparently promotes facial hair and probably insulin and sugar-cravings too? If you bought the right NAC, I would try switching brands and see if that helps.
It might be helpful too, to try a wheat and/or gluten free diet for two weeks while taking the NAC and see if that helps. It seems counterproductive to be taking an insulin normaliser while still eating insulin promoting foods. Wheat and gluten more than any other foods, promote insulin production because they have a hormonal effect, signaling the body to produce insulin, which tells your body to eat more because your body thinks it's starving. The commercial "protein enriched" grains are the worst for this insulin effect.
