Lucid Dreams

I have been reading a lot of stuff about Lucid Dreams (LD) and am actively trying to see for myself what LD feels like. So far I have had no luck...

I am an Indian who settled in Canada 10 years ago. But most of my dreams are based of the house in India where I spent my entire childhood. So my home in India is a dream sign which keeps repeating in many of my dreams...

Yesterday I had a dream that I am in my home in India. Everything was very vivid. The rooms, the outdoors, the garden etc. I even saw one of my friends from Canada in my home there.
We were talking about some ingredient in the toothpaste that is harmful. (SLS??) which causes toothpaste to make a lot of foam. I told her I prefer herbal tooth-powders. This dream was so real, that I remembered the concept of LD in this dream, but did not question the fact that I am having a dream.. Oh wow. I think I was very close. I shall keep trying to have a LD.
For some reason, I did not question the fact how my friend from Canada ended up in my Indian home.
