I just want to advise you to represent facts in a historically acurate manner. I am referring to your argument that Iran should be changed back to Persia because it was changed in order for Iran to allign with the Nazi's. While the timing of the name change might have been motivated by political reasons, you failed to mention that Iran, not Persia has always been the most common indigenous name for the whole area since pre-Islamic times. Persia on the other hand was what the Greeks called the area which was then adopted by the West. Part of the reason for changing the name was invariably to assert pride in Iran's history and sovereignty and to require the world to recognize Iran on its own terms.
The government of Iran can be changed without having to change the name of the country in order to retain its self identity. Because to do so would be to catering to what outsiders want to label Iran rather than what Iranians for centuries have called their own country. Tweet
