--answer--Learning by experience--Fats and Fatty Acids
Hi TX,
Your comment: I decided to go ahead and use the BS on my rash. I thought my whole body was on fire. I dumped ES and HP in the tub and jumped in. Ahhh...what relief. So, lesson learned.
This tells me it would do the same on baby's diaper rash so we won't ever try that. ;~)
BTW, my grandson's foot where the skin had peeled off and the bootim of his toes split has healed very well using the soaks and coconut oil. These baths are amazing to say the least.

Answer: It is called the school of Hard Knocks!
Some Learn, others keep getting Hit over the Head with Hard Knocks!
The reason the Baking Soda(BS) caused your rash to Burn like on Fire, may have been because of the Excess Acidity of the rash reacting against the Very High Alkalinity of the BS!
This is Why I suggested using an Oil to apply to the rash area, as an Oil is able to Buffer these Excess Acids and absorb them into the oil, thus protecting the body Tissues from Excess Acids!
Why do you think they call Fats that have grabbed onto Acids, Fatty Acids?
All the stored Fats of our body are called Fatty Acids!
These Fats are protecting our body from the Excess Acids our body contains!
This is Why Fat folks who try to lose weight, if they lose weight too Fast, without supplying enough Alkaline Minerals and Live Carbons into their Diet may cause too much of these Fatty Acids to be Released into their Lymphatic Fluids and Cause their bodies to go into Acid overload Shock!
Cause and Effect!
Smile Tis your choice.
