I'm a long-term prostate cancer survivor which was discovered during a TURP.
I declined the suggested removal and never took any medical treatment other than
PSA tests which you point out are a measure of prostate health. Have
followed a number of different routes and am not particularly sure which has
been the most beneficial. After after the lab results of cancer in what
came out of the TURP I ate loads of garlic. (Garlic kills cancer cells in
the lab http://alternativemedicine13.blogspot.com/2007/02/garlic.html)
I have also taken a lot of saw palmetto, but am not sure of the effectiveness of
that because not too long ago I went through bouts of frequent urination during
the night and it didn't help that. However, about eight or ten months ago
I began taking Lycopene (the red stuff in tomatoes) and that has about cured my
frequent urination. The benefits of Lycopene manifested themselves within
a week of my taking it. Lycopene is by far the best supplement for
prostate health there is. I've also been taking a lot of fish oil
supplements for the Omega 3 in it. My last PSA three months ago was .7,
down from 1.3 a few months earlier.
