Re: new to juicing and need some help
Hi NewGuy...Sorry you've had to wait so long for a reply.
We do a lot of
juicing and have for well over 20 years.
Veggies are healing and fruits are cleansing. But I never
combine fruits and veggies...except for adding apple once
in a while to our veggie juice.
Our main juice...which is just loaded with nutrients...is
Spinach (just a big handful for one glass) about 3 big carrots...and 1/2 apple. Sometimes we add a little cucumber...or 1/4 beet (which is very good to give a laxative effect...as is spinach if you use very much).
Celery is really good if you have your juice late in the
day and want to kind of 'calm your nerves' :-) and it's
also good to lower blood pressure.
The best time to have your juice...is just when it's best
for 'you'. We usually do it early morning. And once you've
done it a time or two...it's really a breeze. We have the
champion juicer...and I can make our juice and clean up
the mess...all in about 8 minutes.
If you are actually
juicing for health...I highly recommend
the following books. They're cheap...old school...and
absolutely priceless in information. They are also very
simple to follow. And are loaded with what each veggie is
good for (health wise). Anything by N.W. Walker...(Raw Vegetable Juices...Vegetable And Fruit Juices...Vibrant Health) Also "Make Your Juicer Your Drugstore" by Dr L Newman. You just can't go wrong with any of these older
books and you can probably find them on ebay for pennies...or at your local health food store for from $5 to $8. Most of the newer books are full of 'foo foo'...
and not much real information...but that's 'my' opinion.
Good luck! You are really on the right track when you
start juicing. It's the single fastest way to restore your
health...but to really restore your health...if you need to do that...you need to back off on sugars, processed foods, etc.
