Re: Mirena
Hello, I would be more than happy to provide a written statement. I'm not sure if my case would be helpful or not...I live in the US and I wouldn't say
Depression was the worst of my symptoms. However, I did experience symptoms that I have NEVER experienced prior to having the Mirena inserted, such as extreme anxiety, panic attacks, heart palpitations, dizziness & vertigo, blurred vision, difficulty concentrating, impaired memory, numbness & weird electrical-like sensations in left foot & leg and the left side of my face went numb the day before I had it removed. The Mirena IUD turned my life upside down and it hasn't been the same since. I've had it out now for about 20 months and while I'm feeling 1,000 times better than I did just before and after having it removed, I'm still not back to normal. The majority of us on this forum are told by our doctors that the symptoms we're experiencing are all in our head and usually send us home with a prescription for an anti-depressant making us feel like a crazy hypochondriac. The women who don't make the connection to the Mirena IUD causing their symptoms, on their own, are forced to suffer. It saddens and enrages me that this poor woman felt desperate and hopeless enough to take her life over this thing. It's obvious she suspected the IUD as the cause since she mentioned it in the letter, but I'm guessing she was not receiving any support for these suspicions. I apologize for the lengthy rant, but this makes me furious. I hope you don't think I'm directing it at you because that couldn't be further from the truth. I am grateful you are asking questions and looking into this further. Please let me know if I can help in any way. Thank you.
