Re: Advantage/Advantix/Vanguard 5 dangers for your pets
Today 20th June 2009 I had to put my cat to sleep.
She was 8 years old and had not been to the vets before.
I used to use a homeopathic vet for my aged dog but he moved to Scotland. I could not find another homoepathic vet.
But I wish i had one over this last fortnight!
I dont usually use chemicals on my animals but i got lazy.
Instead of bathing my cat for fleas. I went to a vet and used Advantage. My cat got sick, stopped eating -four visits to the vet,
Antibiotics for a high temperature, blood test which said she had a compromised immune system (cat Aids) she had not been ill before. The vet did admit that the steroids they gave her may have made things worse, he suggested put her on a drip to clean her out to protect her kidneys from toxic overload. She went into overnight pet hospital, she was quiet but looking round. This morning she was like a wet rag.Had not eaton for five days and could not hold her head up. I decided enough was enough and she lay on my lap paralysed but gently purring and passed away after her injection. Even the vet was upset but denied that Advantage killed her.
I am so angry with myself for my stupidity and the chemical industry for killing my beloved pet.
Pet owners, get a blood test first before using a spot on flea killer. Make sure your pet has not got a unidentified immune deficiency before you go down that path.
