Re: Parasites/Ammonia and Adrenal Fatigue

Actually, having a reaction to glutamine, 3x, was how I figured out a problem with ammonia with my sick liver.

This from Cutler started putting the pieces of the puzzle together for me...and reading about Lyme/ammonia

>>>Glutamine should not be taken by those who have elevated blood ammonia. Those with notable liver problems should ask their physician about the likelihood they have elevated blood ammonia before taking it.<<<

There are a lot of flaws in the link you posted. And I still disagree with the other claims being made. First of all if there was an excess of ammonia then a person would most likely be in a coma or having seizures. And the brain is always going to have some degree of ammonia just from normal cell break down and ammonia. There would be no way to differentiate. Then there is the fact that ammonia is not only metabolized in to urea in the body, but also glutamine. So if ammonia leads to a glutamine sensitivity and we all metabolize ammonia in to urea and glutamine then why don't we all have a problem from the glutamine?

Finally, the most common cause of elevated ammonia levels is liver or kidney problems. People need to be careful about self diagnosing because they can end up missing something important assuming that the problem is something else.
