Re: Anyone else interested in this topic?
Hi
I feel like a fraud saying that I have PCOS because I am neither obese nor hairy. I was diagnosed with this when I was 23 because my periods stopped. On ultrasound I had cystic ovaries. However, I do fit the other factors of having poor tolerance to carbohydrates, really quite severe mood swings, progesterone problems etc. I didn't get my period till I was 17 and they used to be so heavy that I would use super tampons every 1 hour on the first day. I felt like I needed a blood transfusion the next day. These are a couple of warning signs of PCOS.
I am a nurse, well, ex now due to illness, but I never knew about this syndrome and when I was told I had it all my Dr said to me was come back when you want to have kids. He also prescribed the contraceptive pill so that I would have periods. Well, this was the worst thing that I could have done. I was absolutely feral on this and I had no energy. I have another friend who has this as well and she said the same thing about the pill. She couldn’t get out of bed when on it and suffered awful nausea.
I believe another factor of PCOS is poor immunity and I now have CIDS and MCS. I have regular periods now because when I was first unwell I saw a naturopath with the bio-energetic machine. I told her my past history and she found all these things wrong with me. She gave me drops and on I went on my merry way. I took the drops 3 x a day and each time I took this one set of drops my right ovary would hurt. On the third day I had my first period in 5 years. I rang her up and she said that she had given me homeopathic insulin, human growth hormone and testosterone because these are out of balance in PCOS people. Well it worked because now they are regular and I get one every month despite my bad health.
Do people with PCOS have adrenal problems as well?
