Re: Editorial Of Sorts-What Is Support?

Anorexics and Bulimics also use fasting as a tool to keep weight off/lose weight.

There are non purging Bulimics as well that use fasting and extreme amounts of exercise as a way to 'deal' with the effects of a binge, instead of just purging.

There are also a ton of people on here with (IMO) obsession over eating binging then they come on here thinking fasting will- what do they say 'reset the palette' and magic all of their issues with food with be gone, instead of getting to the root of things and starting there and learning correct eating habits which usually starts with why you binge and scheduled meal plans etc.

I refuse to believe someone who has an extra 50 lbs on them is just because they have a desk job ( I have seen some on here use this as an excuse), that's not having priority for a healthy LIFESTYLE.

That is why many people on here who are obese fast, then 'blow it' on pizza.

Or they lose the weight, come to find a post from the same person a few months later saying they gained 40 lbs and they are determined to fast again.

the cycle continues.

All eating disorders have a similar pattern.

And I'm a firm believer if you have to fast (juice feats as well) just to maintain your weight every so often, then you still have problems with your food.

but that's just my .02

Its always the same members on here starting a new fast, I really don't see how that is healthy, and you are right waaay back when I found this place to be neutral and valuable x yrs ago, this was a place mostly for healing. Not a gimmicky tool to lose weight.

The forum has become scarey in so many delicate questions are asked concerning MANY different physical ailments that are not black and white. Looking up an ailment and copy and pasting something, anyone can do that. ( we have Web MD which let me tell you is so wrong a lot of the times, you get people thinking they have like cancer etc)

Doctors (traditional and on traditional) spend their life on usually ONE particular focus for that very same reason: the body is not black and white. They also spend yrs with hands on training and then more. So to diagnose and play doctor online, or even a self proclaimed expert with zip credentials (except, again reading tons of material that we ALL have access to) is insane, but hey thats just my opinion.

There are medical records/specific tests for a reason, people aren't going to tell you everything thats going on with them. But yet I have seen on several occasions people chiming in on those with hysterectomy, heart issues etc. Not asking for ANY history etc, or even understanding the body (because they don't have proper training) but yet giving all of this 'advice'. I had person who almost died because she simply didn't tell me she on x supplement while taking x meds. And that was in person.

By no means do I not think that people should come on here, and use the internet as a valuable tool to educate themselves and perhaps find what can heal them, but I do not think someone ONLINE should be used as an expert merely because that person has read several books and has their own experiences, again the same resources we ALL have. People need to look things up for themselves. WE clearly all can read, and have internet access.

It reminds me of those shitty personal trainers, they can train themselves and have book knowledge, but that doesn't mean you understand the capacity of knowing how to train others in a real environment.

Also I don't see many people on here.. albeit them fasting and fasting who really look healthy (nor any younger), I don't mean a fitness model, but I see some of the pictures from users, and I don't see healthy, but thats just my opinion.

Eating Disorders are an intimate and complicated subject- I don't understand why its always coming up on an online bored with anonymous posters.

Its like having a demon inside of you, but that demon is yourself. And I know this first hand.

Anyways I do hope Olivia and her family can get the correct attention she needs.

But to each his own. I think everyone has to find a method, a lifestyle, workout regimen, diet, healing, etc for them. There is no one set in stone. Ppl need to take the time to tune into themselves and listen, as usually the answers are there, instead of false perceptions.

Lets all just remember, for everyone who seems to condemn western medicine on here, there are a butt load of people making a ton of money on watered down gimmicky things (EFT to example) having everyone think they can become some expertt with a few dvds and reading books.

Sorry, ain't ever gonna happen. This is sadly why alternative medicine is looked down upon by a lot of people.
but also why Integrative mMdicine will be and is becoming the next generation of health care. (yays!) You have the credentials, the knowledge of both worlds. I believe theres a time and place for both alternative medicine and traditional, and when the two doctors are brought together to help the patient, thats like super care.

Thats the end of my little rant, which I'm sure will be torn apart, but hey I don't read what most people write on here because I really don't care for the negativity and nonsense nor do I have the time.
