A couple of pastors I knew...................
Hopinso, I have been behind on my reading and am trying to catch up. Your other thread was so long that I was afraid this might be missed and I wanted to have my say also.
1) My son-in-law's grandfather was a minister that made rounds in the local hospital. I once heard him tell a patient that if her faith was stronger, then she would not be in the hospital. About 6 months later he was in the hospital in bad shape. Stayed for over 2 weeks. He had a different opinion about his stance for the rest of his life.
2) A friend of mine went to a church that was started up by an individual. Fairly large church, but run as the pastor's personal possession. The pastor did not believe in divorce. He would not allow anyone that was divorced to hold any office in the church. Not even Sunday School teacher. Then one day his only child, a daughter, got married to a lazy ne'er-do-well that depended on his wife to keep him up and he was abusive to her. All of a sudden the pastor changed his mind about divorce.
My point is simply that folks can judge others easily. THEN, if the same happens to them they see things differently. Do not worry about the self-righteous people at your church. All churches have them. Just pray for them that they do not have to suffer what you have had to suffer.
