Re: How many, what to expect?
Hi Peggy, here are a couple of links with good information about how to go about giving yourself an enema:

Most pharmacies carry enema bags or combination syringes that double as a hot water bottle as well as a douche or enema syringe. If you get a combination and use it for an enema, never use it for douching and vise versa.
Your therapist is "right on" with the advice she gave you about just going with the feel of your body. Colon therapists have a saying that "the colon has a mind of it's own", meaning that there is little the client can do during the
colonic to affect the release. During some sessions a great deal of waste matter is eliminated, and during others the return can be almost clear for the entire time. There doesn't seem to be any logic behind it sometimes.
The therapists abdominal massage is probably the most effective factor in stimulating a good release, but if it's a day when your colon is holding back, then nothing seems to affect it.
Stick with it, it will pay off in the end. Even during a mostly clear return your colon is still releasing toxins from your colon.
