I don't know of any way to figure out how much licorice root there is. The 10% is pretty vague since it does not state if it is a stadardized or concentrated extract either.

If you are trying to balance your hormones there is no reason to avoid phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens actually help to balance the hormones, and they are present in most of the foods we eat and many of the herbs used to balance the hormones including licorice root and dong gui(dong quai).

The most important thing that can be done though to balance the hormones is to cleanse the liver with bitters. If you run a search on bitters on the boards I have posted quite a bit on the subject.
