The best way to place a bed is so that you can see someone entering your bedroom. The Chinese were always concerned about not being caught unaware by their enemies. The same for a desk; do not work with your back toward the door; your enemies could kill you!

If you open the bedroom door and the bed is behind the door, that is not good. If you enter the room and the end of the bed is right there, it is considered to be as a coffin, ready to head out the door!

Any other position is okay.

With the Flying Stars, there are good stars and bad stars; it is not good to sleep in a bad star's area. You cannot figure this out without the direction and birth date of the house.

Other than sleeping with a good star, the position of your head does not really matter much. When you think of it, your head does not lie in its proper place all night. If you tuck into the fetal position, your face is probably looking at the end of the bed. So, it is not really important.
