Lesson's Learned From Nature

As all creatures we have our habits that come naturally for us. For me morning after morning, day after day, the need to use the restroom is needful and necessary for good health.

Every day as I practiced this habit, I would notice a little spider than had inconspicuously spun a tiny web under the windowsill. I marveled at it's talent and patience as it waited for a meal to come it's way. As I would watch the tiny spider day after day, I noticed I would have a different attitude towards her existence as time went on.

First off, where does she get off thinking she can just come and set up her house in MY home? Second, where does she get off thinking my house is FULL enough of bugs to survive on? I was offended.

Another day rolled around and I saw another spider in the web. He was much bigger than the other one. As I was getting more offended that another spider had the nerve to think my house was full of bugs, I saw the smaller spider come down and a struggle took place. Slowly the legs of the bigger spider started to fold up and he became very still. The smaller spider then proceeded to eat him.

Ok, that's it, I did not want to be seeing that go on in my house. So I carefully wadded up a piece of toilet tissue and took care of that obscene visual.

After the dirty deed was done and flushed away from my sight, I went on my way to handle the things in life that were important to me to do. It wasn't until my next visit to the restroom that I felt a sense of loss. My visit was boring and ordinary with nothing to entertain my mind with the wonders of how the world works. I realized that I squashed something that had done nothing to hurt me on purpose. It was just practicing it's own habit as nature intended for it to do.

My lesson to myself: Know the difference between nature and a real evil threat. When something causes me to be offended, it is the first warning sign to look inwardly and see why. Second, check the intent of the supposed threat. Is it unnatural?

I think I will leave any needed squashing to the One and only who has the true authority over both nature and evil.

True story......refreshed
