mirena iud side effects. who's body is this?

I am here to tell you to be aware of your body and what it's telling you after having a mirena IUD inserted. I have just recently had my 2nd IUD removed because of a lot of crazy and unusual side effects. I had positive and negative results. I had no periods! (that was the most positive result) But on the flip side, I became a mental wreck. Kept blaming it on stress. The first one I had almost 6 years ago. Ended up going on an anti depressant because I got so snappy. Not the normal ME!!! ( blamed it on the dying of my Mom with cancer and all involved in the sadness of that) Never occured to me it could be the mirena. I had my second iud inserted in Oct. 08 and started to experience some of the same negative side effects. I was talking to my sister on the phone telling her how I have been so irritable lately, having hot flashes, fainting, heart palpitations, insomnia, dizziness, bloating, stomach aches, fatigue, back pain, muscle spasms in back, buttocks and legs, little interest in sex (the one my husband hates the most!) and endless other minor things.(related or not; who knows?) She said to me: "Have you ever thought that your issues could be related to having the mirena?" WOW! LIGHTBULB WENT OFF!!! Never thought it could be that until I started to search the net for the side effects other women were experiencing. I found out so many things that I never knew about this device and how it has affected so many different women in so many different ways.
I was very undecided about having it removed because of having no periods and no pain during my monthly cycle. That part was great.
(no tampons for 6 years)wooo- hooo!
My Dr. thinks I am crazy, but said if it is affecting the quality of my life, have it out. Never know until it's done. I have been mirena free for a week almost and I have to tell you the first thing I noticed was my stomache felt better immediately and I have a more calmness about me that I haven't had in years. I hope the removal of this foreign object in me is the answer to all or most of my issues. Well see. I would say to give it a try (the benefits are worth it) but just be aware of changes that occur after and speak to your Doctor about them. I hope this will help someone out there searching for answers to their health. Good Luck.
