--answer--Gout and uric acid--

Hi #13192,

Your question from this post: It is just as possible to have gout without having high uric acid.

In the midst of a huge crisis I had tests (a needle through the bone in a big toe that was hyperswollen, red, painful, etc) which showed no uric acid at all. Rhumatology medical journals attest to that. It can be an arthritis problem not due to diet.

Your question from another post:I have recurring episodes too.

I''ve researched and also asked rhumatologists and there is gout without high uric acid.
thus not diet related. yes gout like symptons can be due to arthritis crisis. due to fatigue. and i suspect that high acidity (citrus, oranges) and calcium supplements are responsible. in my case only anti inflamatories help.

Answer: My Orginal post you were asking about:

Hi Ya'll,

Here is a clip from one of the Gov sites talking about Gout and the uric acid connection, which I thought was interesting and may be helpful for some of you ?

What Is Gout?

Gout is one of the most painful forms of arthritis. It occurs when too much uric acid builds up in the body. The buildup of uric acid can lead to:

Sharp uric acid crystal deposits in joints, often in the big toe
Deposits of uric acid (called tophi) that look like lumps under the skin
Kidney stones from uric acid crystals in the kidneys.

For many people, the first attack of gout occurs in the big toe. Often, the attack wakes a person from sleep. The toe is very sore, red, warm, and swollen.

Gout can cause:

Pain
Swelling
Redness
Heat
Stiffness in joints.
In addition to the big toe, gout can affect the:

Instep
Ankles
Heels
Knees
Wrists
Fingers
Elbows.
A gout attack can be brought on by stressful events, alcohol or drugs, or another illness. Early attacks usually get better within 3 to 10 days, even without treatment. The next attack may not occur for months or even years.

What Causes Gout?

Gout is caused by the buildup of too much uric acid in the body. Uric acid comes from the breakdown of substances called purines. Purines are found in all of your body's tissues. They are also in many foods, such as liver, dried beans and peas, and anchovies.

Normally, uric acid dissolves in the blood. It passes through the kidneys and out of the body in urine. But uric acid can build up in the blood when:

The body increases the amount of uric acid it makes.
The kidneys do not get rid of enough uric acid.
A person eats too many foods high in purines.
When uric acid levels in the blood are high, it is called hyperuricemia. Most people with hyperuricemia do not develop gout. But if excess uric acid crystals form in the body, gout can develop.

You are more likely to have gout if you:

Have family members with the disease
Are a man
Are overweight
Drink too much alcohol
Eat too many foods rich in purines
Have an enzyme defect that makes it hard for the body to break down purines
Are exposed to lead in the environment
Have had an organ transplant
Use some medicines such as diuretics, aspirin, cyclosporine, or levodopa
Take the vitamin niacin.

End of note !

My edit:

Uric Acid from foods : Uric Acid's content in the urine is dependent upon the pH, or the acidity of the urine . For at a pH of 7, which is neutral, the urine can hold 1000 times the amount of uric acids as if the pH of the urine is pH 5, which is Acidic .

This means that the body can get Rid of more Uric Acid thru the urine when the pH of the urine is at 7 pH than when the urine pH is 5 , because the higher pH enables the urine to Neutralize more of the Acids of the uric acid !

In other words, if your body is too Acidic, then it may not be able to get rid of the excess uric acids fast enough from your body, and thus may allow for the build up of Uric Acid in your body and thus Cause you problems !

Smile Tis your choice.

Your Last question: I''ve researched and also asked rhumatologists and there is gout without high uric acid.
thus not diet related. yes gout like symptons can be due to arthritis crisis. due to fatigue. and i suspect that high acidity (citrus, oranges) and calcium supplements are responsible. in my case only anti inflamatories

Now to answer your questions: Uric Acid is an Acid of Nitrogen !

Thus Why would it seem so hard that if our body was subjected to too Many Acids, regardless from what sources that these Excess Acids may Cause Nitrogen to form uric Acid?

Or any of the other forms of Nitrogen Acids which may cause Gout to come about?

It may still boil down to an Excess of Nitrogen Acids of some kind?

Calcium is not an Acid, so we cannot Blame Gout on Calcium?

The Biggest problem with Gout may be Caused by the Poor Quality Low Brix foods we choose to eat that contain too much Funny Protein(NPN) !

One may learn to Identify NPN in our foods with the use of a Refractometer.

Then when the Liver and Kidneys of our body do not get the needed Magnesium which is required by them to be able to remove these Nitrogen Waste from our body we may end up with Gout and Many other Sickness and Diseases !

Could this be Why I have suggested for folks to learn to take a small pinch of Epsom Salt(Magnesium Sulfate) in water with each meal to help provide this needed Magnesium to our Liver and Kidneys to Remove thise Excess Nitrgoen Waste?

The other important lesson folks need to learn is to Stop eating Protein 4-6 hours before bedtime !

Many folks have learned to overcome these problems as may be seen by the many Success Testimonials found "Following" this Link:
