Peri anal fistulas

Hi. I recently took in a rescue dog that has severe perianal fistulas. We had them flushed and she is now being treated with steroids, an immune suppressing drug and pain medication. It is obvious that this is a chronic condition in the dog. I read that a high protein diet "might" help, but I am looking for any other suggestions (homeopathic, etc.) to help this dog.
