I don't personally view not contacting someone you once knew and moved away as giving up on them.

Some people seem to have a hard time letting go of the past. I have noticed that nostalgic types tend to look at human relationships in a desperate frame of mind, in my opinion.

Perhaps it's time to move on to new friends and adventures
