Re: Nutritarianism or fasting. Which is best for weight loss?

I've never been into long term fasting, except for about 10 days when I went to hospital at the age of 15, for a spine injury.
I remember loosing a lot of weight and feeling great. Since then I tryed many time to fast for a day and lately I managed a 48 hour fast and I'd like to aim for longer periods.
However, I don't think fasting should be the rule neither for weight loss nor to detox.
Indeed I believe that eating a varied diet, without exceeding in anything is the best lifestyle.
I'm new to fasting, and by reading the hundreds of posts in this and other forums I got the impression that many people tend to become sort of obsessed with what they do, either fasting or being vegan or else.
I'm strongly convinced we should eat sensibly, with plenty of vegetables and fruit, less meat and cheese. My problem is that I eat too many sweets, so I'm trying to cut down.
Nevertheless, I believe that eating is also a matter of culture and socialization. I'm not sure I could live the rest of my life on nuts and row foods. By doing so, I could live longer and perhaps healthier, but how would that affect my social life, for example?
I love cooking, having friends coming round, go to restaurants, try different cuisines from other countries and cultures, having pizza or curry and tiramisu, sometimes.
Maybe, I still have to find my way into healthy eating. What I found since I started my fasting experiments two weeks ago, is that I need less sweets, am much more concerned about my diet and feel bad if I overeat.
But I hope not to become a fundamentalist either with fasting or nutritarianism.

Stef.
