Yeah I found something like this too on one of my long fasts. It can be a bit of an emotional roller coaster.

I read something that caught my eye in Bravo-Two-Zero, a book about the SAS. They were saying that you don't feel the pain when being chased and beaten by your captors, but when you are in a cell by yourself the mind is quiet and the pain "volume" turns up. It's then you feel all the bruises.

I think it's like that when fasting. You are in a quiet frame of mind, nothing to interfere (assuming you ARE getting the rest etc that you should) and you begin to realise the problems you have hidden for so long using food.

If that makes sense. However in both the above cases, I think the pain can also be the route to healing as well.
