Re: Supplements causing terrible gas and bloating
Hi,
Regarding the fish oil, I suggest you abandon it altogether and get krill oil instead. Fish oil goes rancid very quickly and will do that even inside your body, if there are not enough antioxidants. The minute amount of vit. E added to most fish oils is not enough. Krill oil, on the other hand, contains omega 3 fatty acids just like fish oil, but also contains its own antioxidants, such as astaxanthin. Also, omega 3 fatty acids in krill oil are packged inside phospholipids, and are thus more efficiently delivered/absorbed and that is precisely why krill oil is much less likely to cause gas than fish oil.
I do not know which of the other supplements will help with gas, but I do not think that the goal of being able to "digest everything" is good. The human digestive system digests certain foods more easily than others -- most fruits are more easily digested than other food. Also, food combining is important -- combining protein with carbohydrates is almost always a bad idea (e.g. meat and potatoes). I suggest you look into juice fasting (there is a juice fasting forum here) and go on a 2-4 week juice fast, and then slowly reintroduce foods and see which one causes you gas. Your body is trying to tell you that that particular food is probably not good for you.
Also, it is a really good idea to take vit. D, as most people in the US are deficient and vit. D has a LOT of essential functions in the body.
Good luck!
