Could this be Kidney Stones?

About two weeks ago I started having dull pain in the lower abdominal area (both sides) and in the lower back, wast area. Dr. took urine sample and said I had some blood in my urine. He suspected UTI or kidney stones and put me on a course of anti-biotics. The abdominal pains have abated but not gone away completely, same for the lower back although I do feel better. I only have three more Antibiotics left and I take two a day. Everyone I've asked about kidney stones says they are very painful but I've only had dull pain. No urinary problems, no fever or chills. Could it be an infection that is slow in going away or does it sound more like stones? Thanks in advance for your advice.
