liver and kidney cleanse by madartist

Thank you for your question it gave me some delish ideas and made me glad that I include beets in most of my juicing mixes...

Excerpts and links follow:

Beet Root - a splendid liver and kidney cleanser, full of nutrients and iron Beet Root is a good source of vitamins & minerals, especially an easy to assimilate iron. It is suitable for anemia, toning and rebuilding the liver, as well as beneficial for slimming and fat digestion.

A popular table vegetable, especially in Northern Europe, beets are a good source of iron and other nutrients. The Greeks held this root in great esteem, offering it on a silver platter to the god, Apollo. In the middle ages, a meal was not considered complete without beetroot soup.

Beet Root is a good source of minerals, particularly an easy to assimilate iron. It contains vitamins A, B and C, sodium, potassium, calcium…
Interestingly, the colouring matter in the beetroot is anthocyanin. This substance carries the potential in regenerating the membranes of cells, mitochondria and red blood cells, thus improving cell respiration.

Slimming?

Beetroot is remarkably beneficial for slimmers. Leslie Kenton, a leading nutritionist, writes in her book "Ultra Life" that beetroot contains the alkaloid betaine, which helps stimulate normal liver function, aiding detoxification and increasing its efficiency in processing fats.

Unless your liver is working properly, fat cannot be effectively broken down and transported through the body for use and elimination. A poorly functioning liver can result in fatigue, nausea, illness and overweight.

What else can Beet Root help with?

Red Beet Root acts as a splendid organic cleanser, not only of the liver, but also of the kidneys and gall bladder. Taking this helps stimulate the activity of the lymphatic system for coughs, colds and bronchial disorders.
One study on Beet Root found it has a blood sugar stabilising effect.

Cucumber juice: purges blood and kidneys of acids and other toxins, thereby enhancing excretion of wastes; balances pH; may be mixed with carrot juice, 2 pints daily.

Kidney inflammation

This and related kidney conditions, such as kidney stones, are the result of excessive retention of uric acid in the kidneys, owing to an overload of acid wastes in the blood from incomplete digestion of improperly combined foods.
Left unattended, uric acids forms painful crystals or 'stones' in the kidneys.
Cleansing-detox is the very first step towards resolving this issue followed by a rejuvenation-diet.

The below foods and juices are therapeutic and healing after your cleansing.

Asparagus: contains asparamid, nature's most effective kidney diuretic; asparagus gives urine a strong odor of ammonia, which indicates that excess uric acid is being rapidly expelled; asparamid breaks up oxalic acid crystals in kidneys and muscles (cooked spinach and cooked tomatoes leave oxalic acid in the system); steam a bunch of fresh asparagus for 3 minutes or less and consume immediately, once daily.

Raw beet juice: raw red beet juice has strong natural affinity for kidneys; it is one of natures best kidney cleansers, dissolving acid crystals and quickly eliminating the 'gravel' from the kidneys; its affinity for kidneys is reflected in red coloration of urine; take 8 oz raw beet juice, 2-3 tsp. at a time, over a 24 hour period, with no other foods.

Watermelon: for nephritis, the Watermelon cure is an excellent adjunct to asparagus therapy; eat nothing for lightly steamed asparagus and bits of raw watermelon for 24-48 hours.

Cucumbers: raw cucumber, in bulk or juice, are excellent kidney diuretics and alkalizing agents; may be mixed with carrot and beet juice, 2 pints daily.
Other beneficial foods: apple cider vinegar; barley water; parsley; carrot juice; lecithin; cabbage; black grapes.

Dandelion root is an effective kidney cleanser. Take 500 mg two times daily. Don't take it for more than a month at a time.

Juniper berry tea is another strong diuretic kidney cleanser. drink 3 or 4 cups every day until stones pass( if this is the problem.)

If stones are the problem, consume oat and wheat bran daily, as they reduce the risk of stones being formed. Lemon juice mixed with a little hot water is another remedy to help acidify the urine and ease the passage of calcium-oxalate stones.

Vitamin A is healing to the urinary tract, so be sure to eat lots of orange-yellow and green vegetables. Consume 1/4 cup of pumpkin seeds daily. Studies show these seeds reduce the risks for kidney stone formation. A magnesium deficiency has been linked to redurring kidney stones. Boost levels by eating green leafy vegetables, kelp, soybeans, almonds and apples. Celery, parsley and watermelon help cleanse the urinary tract.

Cranberry extract, 400 mg twice daily or as directed on the container. It reduces the urinary calcium levels in people with a history of kidney stones. It also helps prevent urinary tract infections by causing an unpleasant enviornment for bacteria and preventing it fro adhering to the bladder walls and growing into an infection.
Aloe Vera, drink 1/4 cup or as directed on the container, as it reduces urinary crystals.

Vitamin A, take 5,000 IU daily as a deficiency of this vitamin is considered a risk factor for kidney stone formation.

A 3 day juice fast will cleanse your body of mineral overload and will encourage the stone to pass as painlessly as possible. Drink a variety of vegetable and fruit juices: those made from green vegetables, carrots, lemons, parsley, Celery and watermelon are especially helpful for a kidney cleanse.

And here’s another excellent pointer book page for investigation:

Magnesium seems to be key, I have also read about corn silk, white and red radishes, leafy greens and much about lemon juice.

So perhaps a some juicing would be doable for you? And yummy…

Enjoy your trials!
