How to Generate your Natal Chart/Quick Lesson
If you are interested in learning astrology here is how you go about generating your own natal chart. Your chart is a snapshot of where the planets were in the sky, exactly when you were born.
Go to:
http://www.astro.com
Step 1: Click on 'My Astro' and register. You can keep up to 100 birthdays in your own private database. Very handy!
Step 2: Click on 'Free Horoscopes'
Step 3: Click on 'Extended Chart Selection'
Step 4: Click on 'Add a new Person' - fill out the birth info. You can add as many people as you want, right off the bat. Or just start with your own and add more later.
Step 5:
Horoscope for: your name
Type of Chart: natal chart and transits *
Chart Style: web default style
House System: Koch
Highlight: Pars Fortunae

So now you can see what your chart looks like. (probably gibberish! ha)
If you can open another browser window at the same time, then open up the following site, it can teach you a lot.

*hint* if you have a blue line (harmonious/harmonic energy between Uranus and your Mercury - you might be VERY good at astrology!) Or if you have many planets in Aquarius...
******
Take a look at your chart.
a) The 12 symbols around the outside ring are the symbols for the Signs (Aries through Pisces)
b) The symbols inside the chart, making dynamic connections to each other are the Planets. (Sun, Moon all the way out to Pluto)
c) The green symbols around the outside of the chart are where the planets are RIGHT NOW, at the time the chart was generated. They move around the chart anti-clockwise and form either harmonic (good, easy creative energy) or disharmonic (disharmony, challenging aspects) aspects to your own planets. These are called: Transits. ex. Pluto conjunct Sun means: Pluto (out there, right now) is sitting right beside or on your Natal Sun. Some planets move quickly the Moon goes through a sign every 2 or so days...and others take years just to transit one small section (house) of your chart. Neptune takes about 12 years to move through one sign.
d) The houses are marked and each has a meaning. That learning site will tell you all about what each house means.
e) The red and blue lines that connect your planets indicate what energies are easy and harmonious together (blue) and which are more challenging (red). A chart with all blue lines may look desireable, but it really isn't because there's not a lot of dynamism in the chart.

So, by having your chart in front of you (print it out?) and looking at the learning site you can start to have some fun. You might find that some things contradict other things...that's because you're just looking at the 'parts'...it's when you can synthesize the whole into a 'big picture' (no computer program can do that, only a human can!) that it starts to get really interesting.
Well, that's it for now!
