First off, let me offer Kudos for trying to get a handle on your health and being open and looking for solutions. This is a great start.
My #1 recommendation has to do with looking at your diet. Fasting can be a springboard into a healthier lifestyle but until you work out your diet issues, you'll keep having these problems. As you may have read, I've become a big fan of Dr. Fuhrman as he ties together all the theories I've come to after years of readingn about this stuff and puts it together comprehensively. Plus he helped me understand some wonderful things I didn't know, such as a way to get rid of cravings - the #1 reason why I kept losing my way on diet. The most success I had in diet change was by fasting 1 day weekly to help me reset when my cravings returned.
Eating a high nutrition diet will take care of the weight gain, the metabolism and the constipation! Your bathroom issues will clear up, no doubt. Check out the Diet and Nutrition forum. For about 3 weeks, myself and about 4 other people have been actively involved with trying Fuhrman's plan, so you can read our experiences, go to Dr. Fuhrman's website. He has a book called Eat To Live that details his plan.
There are other doctors and alternative health folks who advocate a similar high nutrition plant based diet - I happen to like the way he sums it all up. There is a great post by MouseClick on this forum with videos.
