Professor W. J. Serfontein, a world expert on AIDS gave a lecture in Stellenbosch, South Africa, in March 2004. At that time he stated HIV cannot infect a patient with enough Selenium in his body. Many studies support his claim. Dr. Harold Foster of Canada has conducted a trail during this last year testing the selenium connection. It is reported to be a rousing success. Independent studies have proven that citizens in areas with high selenium in their soil have very low HIV/AIDS incidences. According to Professor Foster and Serfontein's belief and various supporting studies, HIV victims are simply suffering from extreme deficiencies of selenium, cysteine, glutamine and tryptophan, which can easily be reversed by better diet and supplements. The Journal of the American Medical Association, 167 No. 2, January 22, 2007 states: "Daily selenium supplementation can suppress the progression of HIV-1 viral burden and provide indirect improvement of CD4 count. The results support the use of selenium as a simple, inexpensive, and safe adjunct therapy in HIV spectrum disease.
