cartigen and glucosine for knee pain?

I was having pain in knee and went to a specialist. He said my cartilege was wearing down and aside from shoe implants and pilates exercises, he said to take glucosine or MSM (which I had been taking for 2 months for my hair), together with carigen which is a new drug (synthetic) on market which he says helps bind the cartilege and works very good together with the MSM (or glucosime). I see now that it seems that cartigen is very similiar to glucosine and I wonder why I have to take both....When I asked him he said they work very well together, and to take the cartigen for 6 months on and 6 months off. Has anyone had any experience with cartigen??
