This sounds similar to Uri Hofmekler's "Warrior Diet", which basically is: eating very light (fruits) or fasting during the day and then eating your only meal for the day in the evening, as much as you want, though he does recommend a certain order and certain foods (as much raw as possible) -- based on the premise that this is how people used to eat during evolutionary history and that fasting during the day and eating only in the evening will make your metabolism work at its best -- i.e., burning fat during the day and replenishing nutrients in the evening.
He explains this in a few books (one is about anti-estrogenic foods) with a lot of scientific backup.
