Manuel Uribe
I am at my folks place right now... watching a show about Manuel Uribe, the man who once was over 1200
lbs. They had a Dr. Sears speaking about diets, and he suggested that focusing on calories alone does not stimulate weight loss. The diet focuses on hormone regulation, rather than calories. In one year Dr. Sears helped Manuel lose almost 400 lbs the first year, but only 33 lbs the next. So it didnt quite work out as expected. Still a very interesting approach to weight lose IMO.
I found it fascinating though when Dr. Sears said that focusing on calories does not work. I began to realize that diets based on calories are very obviously based on false theory. I mean there are billions of people like myself who can eat as many calories as they want, without putting on a single lb. Not to mention the hundreds of different diets out there based on calories that do not work. Calories may play a part, but it seems fairly obvious that it could easily be an insignificant one. The theory which looks good on paper, has very poor results as its foundation.
So then... if this is the case, how come so much attention has been given to calorie diets when it yields such poor results. Not to mention that so many can eat as much as they wish without putting on a pound. The calorie based diet theory is obviously very flawed...
