Maintaining improvements with MS and immune system.

Hi JoanF, Here is what I believe has helped me!

Getting the load or triggers what ever they may be down to a manageable level. I believe this load is dependant on the individual who has immune compromised condition. Even if you give up one trigger for awhile you may still be dealing with other triggers. If you get rid of several you may find a small improvement in your overall condition. So I learned to observe what caused me to have small reactions. I found that eating turkey caused me to have weakness and pain in my knee and ankle. If I only eat turkey once a year I don't have any reaction. I found that eating beef to often also caused me to have reactions such as pain in my hip and spasms. Eating a carbohydrate especially if it had Sugar and wheat caused me to have reflux and indigestion. Getting rid of the Dental Amalgams took a load from my body which became more evident as I removed the heavy metals with chelation. I also found eating cilantro is a light chelator. I think having heavy metals interferes with many pathways and lowers the ability of the immune system to distinguish between self and a foreign invader. Lowering the pathogen load with Miracle-Mineral-Supplement has helped a lot. I think some treatments don't work well when our bodies have too much build up of plaques and toxic overload. Sue mentioned that there is a kidney condition that can be helped by some treatments. I wish she could explain it more as I didn't understand the exact pathway that is involved. Joan I think some people do better with fats than others. I believe some fats have helped to lower my plaque load. My blood type may have something to do with this. I am O +. The Blood Type Diet has helped with the direction with foods that I have taken. Gradually I learned that small impacts on my immune system were cumulative and could cause long term damage. Using enzymes between meals has reduced many old deposits while I continue to be more aware of my behaviors that bring on immune reaction. I think for some toxins are surrounded by fats to protect the cells or DNA so I have lost some weight as I reduce toxin and lower my reactivity. I think for some their toxins are more contained in deeper tissues, glands and organs. This may explain that some who have MS retain fat and others suffer from weight loss. This is just my guess but it seems logical to me. My current diet and lifestyle includes staying away from gluten, chemical which cause me any reaction, staying away from harmful relationships or tasks which cause me immune reactions. I also monitor my thinking and practice thinking about things which are relaxing, loving and comfortable thoughts. If I catch myself feeling depressed I try to reverse the way I am talking to myself or find something to do which will remove that thought pattern from me. I started this kind of belief and thinking pattern control when I started cleaning up my lungs and stopped smoking. I found I had to say this I enjoy breathing fresh air. I took the words cigarette, and smoking out of my dialogue. So it goes I didn't have to say the negative words of "I am going to stop smoking, or I am going to stop cigarettes". My daughter told me that the brain doesn't understand or hear the no, not, quit, words. It may sound strange to some but the brain will continue a habit it has learned until it believes in something that is contradictory to that behavior. I was able to continually affirm that I was a person who loved fresh air and my brain stopped telling me to smoke. I benefited in that I no longer tell myself that I should behave in an angry way. I no longer have to harbor feelings of being victimized or injured by anyone or this disease. I was free to appreciate all the wonderful things in my life. I found that this appreciation had the power to multiply the occasions which gave me enjoyment and peace. I like the feeling I get when I sing let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. Being able to reduce triggers is worth the effort for me and has changed my life. I feel my immune system has calmed and isn't as reactive at present. I am willing to do the changes that allow me to live symptom free. I still have some cognitive damage I can accept but I continue to look for ways to repair them. I continue to look for ways to settle my immune system and assure that I will not have any new damage or reduction of function of my current condition. I continue to follow most of the changes I feel helped me reach my current condition. I feel so blessed by what I have learned from my doctors, reading and the support of the people here on this board. LDN, and Histamine have helped me in so many ways. MW
A friend's thoughts MS and diet
I do think changing your diet can affect your MS symptoms and can heal the nervous system. Here is a web site you can check out. Read Roger McDougal's story. He was wheel chair bound
