Day 19
Today has been very introspective for me - a day to go inside and reflect on the negative and positive influences in my life. I've done alot of reading and pondering.
I have also browsed through several different forums today to see what is going on outside of my world and one of the things I found were some comments that have been made about me, so I would like to make a couple of comments myself.
1) There have been some comments made about me and David Wolfe - the truth is I have never met David or heard him speak. The only contact I have had which involves him is through his book - The Sunfood Diet. I quoted him a couple of times in my book because his book helped me to understand alot of things I was searching for about a 'live' food diet. I'm sure, like all of us, the man is mistaken on some of his ideas and not perfect, but his book is informative and helpful to anyone who is on that particular path.
2) There have been some comments made about buying my daughter 'bread and frozen dinners' while I am on my fast. This is a true statement - I do not keep my children on a completely 'live' diet during the winter. However, the majority of her diet is live due to the fresh juices, fruits and vegetables we give her through the day. In addition to that, she enjoys sprouted wheat bread toast, granola with almond milk and a vegetarian dinner - since I have not mastered the art of cooking a whole dinner for just one 4 year-old - I found what I could at the health food store to compensate.
It is my understanding that these forums were set up to help the general public with their questions about health - which is what I think we are trying to do. Anyone who has a forum here knows that it takes many hours to answer all of the question which are placed here and there is no compensation. (unless, of course, someone goes to your website and makes a purchase). As you go through the different forums you will notice that many of us disagree on what is the best thing to do in any given situation. That's O.K.! It means you have the opportunity to go through and learn from many different teachers - then choose what works the best for you - there is no one right answer for everyone. We all live under different circumstances, different means and different conditions.
What I have always tried to accomplish is to help people to see beyond their conventional box and reach for a higher level. If they are used to eating the typical American diet and they can begin to see the wisdom in adding more 'live' food to their diet, then I applaud them. If they are vegetarian and they can see the wisdom is becoming vegan, then I applaud them. If they are vegan and can begin to understand the higher elevation of a 'live' food diet, then I applaud them. The point is we are all at different levels of enlightenment on this journey we call life. The best we can do for one another is to encourage and strengthen each other on our chosen paths.
My life has been a roller coaster in many ways, which I am not going to take the time to get into here, but, depending on the circumstances of my life, I have made whatever adjustments I needed to in order to keep everyone going and survive. Anyone who knows me well will tell you than I am strong-minded and strong-willed, but I am not a fanatic. My life has been too challenging to become fanatacal about anything. The minute I were to declare that I am never going to feed my child anything but live food - something would happen that would put me at the north pole without anything alive for thousands of miles.
The point is to be the best you can be and, hopefully, help everyone around you to do the same. Hope this clears up any misunderstandings about my intentions, Dr Mom
